Siyaphambili [pronounced See-ya-fam-bee-lee] means “moving on” in isiXhosa and is the guiding mission of the Village. Their goal is to help children and young people who have become severely affected by the AIDS epidemic in South Africa and who suffer from food insecurity and poverty. Siyaphambili Orphanage strives to help these children grow and move on with their lives.

I’ve always had a special place in my heart for children. Knowing children grow up hungry, abused and/or without parents rocks me to my very core. Visiting and donating to orphanages is one of the most rewarding things I have ever done.

While in Cape Town, South Africa filming ‘The Forgiven’ I had the opportunity to visit The Siyaphambili Orphanage which is just outside of Cape Town in Langa. Many of these children have HIV. I promise you this, these children are the most radiant, appreciative kids on the planet. I was inspired by their beautiful spirits and their overall zest for life. Siyaphamili Orphanage strives to help, love, house, feed and care for many orphaned children in Langa.

This orphanage is in desperate need of resources in order to care for its current orphan population and to be able to open its doors to new children. I am so grateful for the time I was able to spend with these sweet and loving children.
